The writeshop will bring together writers and researchers to build capacity to think critically, and produce a written story on current environmental and development issues in the Mekong Region. Less experienced writers especially will be provided help to plan and write their articles.
Up to 15 places are available. For successful applicants, all costs to attend the writeshop will be covered.
Application deadline is 4 August 2017.
To apply or for inquiries, please contact Paw Sriprasit (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Successful applicants will have to bring with you the key elements of your story (story ideas, photographs and quotes from interviews). By the end of the two-day WriteShop, which involves short lectures and mentored breakout groups with experienced writers, you will have to produce an article. Your article will be published on www.MekongCommons.org.
To apply (in English): submit (1) a 300-word summary of your proposed story; (2) one relevant photograph; (3) one quote from someone you interviewed who is in the story; (4) explain why this story is important to you; and, (5) a short biography (no more than 100 words) of your current work and/or study background.
We particularly welcome stories that link the Mekong Common’s themes of ecology, society and development to the topics of living with disabilities or HIV AIDS, and gender.
